So with any new product there can be some bugs i the initial releases. Microsoft is claiming a smooth upgrade process but my over 20 years of working in the tech field tells me there may be some bugs. If you do decide to do it, just make sure you have a backup at the ready in case things do not go well.
Do I have to upgrade?
Windows 7 will be supported until January 14th 2020 and Windows 8.1 until January 10 2023 which means no, you do not have to for a few more years.
Why Should I upgrade?
So If you’ve been using Windows 7, you get access to all the improvements found in Windows 8 but with an interface that makes more sense. If you are using Windows 8 you will already be familiar with the tiled interface but they have made it much easier to navigate. Also Microsoft has stated this is the last version of windows and they will not be doing release numbers after Windows 10, they will simply keep adding features to this operating system so there will not be an “End Of Life” for this product. Microsoft goal is to get all computers and devices running on this version of windows, which means if you plan to keep running Windows you will eventually be on Windows 10 with a newer device or to take advantage of newer programs written for Windows 10.
